In 1800 the wine culture on the slopes of Tricastin was particularly developed until an invasion of the phylloxera destroyed a great part of the wine.
It was during this period, when Joseph-Pierre AYME decided to plant his first truffle oaks. In 1850 he started harvesting the Tuber Mélanosporum. Confirmed by this successful experiment, the trade with truffle trees began.
The french truffle production is made at 80% in the south east.( Drôme, Vaucluse, Hautes-Alpes et Var)
